Etihad Crystal Cargo, the cargo division of Etihad Airways, has started a weekly all-cargo service to the Indian capital of New Delhi. The freighter will operate every
Wednesday between Abu Dhabi and New Delhi.
Until
now, Etihad Airways has offered a payload capacity of approximately 15 tons on each of its three weekly flights to the Indian capital. With this new regional freighter
Etihad Crystal Cargo offers an additional payload of 39 tons on the Delhi route. A large portion of the cargo uplifted from New Delhi is expected to consist of garments
for the Middle Eastern, European and North American markets.
"Etihad Crystal Cargo's all-cargo service to the Indian capital complements the existing cargo services on the Etihad Airways network. The Airbus A310-300F allows us
to accept main deck cargo and greater volumes for Indian shipping customers,"
said Ingo Roessler, the acting Head of Cargo & Mail at Etihad.
New Delhi is Etihad Crystal Cargo's third all-cargo destination in India. In February 2005, Etihad Crystal Cargo launched a weekly all-cargo service to Mumbai, following
this up in June with a twice-a-week service to Chennai.
