Finnair begins scheduled flights for Finnish passengers and those travelling from Far East destinations to Venice as of March 28, following the implementation of the
summer timetable on March 27. The flights continue through the summer period until October. The non-stop service operates twice a week, Mondays and Fridays.
Monday flights depart at 16.30, arriving 18.15. Return flights depart at 19.00, arriving at Helsinki at 22.45. Friday flights depart from Helsinki at 9.30, arriving at Venice at
11.15. Departures from Venice are at 12.00, landing at Helsinki at 15.45.
"There is plenty of demand for flights to Italy from Finland and from the Far East," says Petteri Kostermaa, Vice President, Network Strategy and Planning. "Venice is an
'evergreen' favourite for Finns and one that travel agents receive many enquiries about. Italy is a best-selling destination in the Japanese and Chinese markets. The
flights connect well with our many Far East services."
From Venice, there are many excellent onward connections by road to Verona, for example, as well as to the Adriatic coast and Florence and Tuscany. The region of
Veneto is also an important area for business travel, including the majority of the Italian shoe and clothes industries.
Flights are operated using Boeing MD-80 aircraft on a
one class basis, without Business Class.
