Melbourne’s Docklands has its first internationally branded accommodation with the launch
Wednesday of Docklands Serviced Apartments – Grand Mercure.
The Docklands development has been
one of Melbourne’s most dramatic urban redevelopment projects, providing a dynamic new residential and business precinct on the
waterfront with an impressive range of bars, restaurants and boutiques all located along the waterfront.
With the area popular with leisure travellers and now with a growing number of businesses locating in the area, the launch of Docklands Serviced Apartments – Grand
Mercure adds a significant new serviced-accommodation aspect to the precinct.
Accor will manage 205 one, two and three bedroom apartments under the Grand Mercure branding, including the full range of apartments in the new Conder Tower.
Fully bookable through Accor Reservations Service, travel agents and other operators, rates start at just
A$240 per night for a one-bedroom apartment. Two bedroom/two bathroom apartments are available from
A$270 a night, and three bedroom apartments with harbour views are available for
A$390 a night.
Serviced apartments have grown enormously in popularity in recent years as people have discovered the benefits of having all the comforts of home with the
convenience of hotel services. They are popular with couples planning special dinner parties or weekend soirees, businesspeople needing accommodation that
doubles as a meeting area or long-stay guests wanting their own kitchen and laundry facilities but who still want someone else to make the bed after a long day at work.
The apartments are part of the
A$1 billion residential, retail and commercial precinct developed by MAB that has transformed the Docklands area. The location is
just a short walk to the city centre, Telstra Dome and Spencer St station, and the apartments also offer easy access to Crown Casino, the Exhibition Centre and Federation
Square.
The 205 apartments are located in five towers including the recently opened Conder Tower, named after Charles Conder, the visionary founder of the Heidelberg School
of impressionism.
All have spacious living areas, stylish furnishings, modern kitchen, laundry and private balconies with spectacular views over the city or the sparkling waters of Victoria
Harbour. Only the highest quality furnishings and fittings are used throughout, including Miele appliances, stone bench tops and reverse cycle air conditioning.
Guests also have access to a range of leisure facilities such as a pool, sauna, fully equipped gym, and a large landscaped BBQ and garden podium area for relaxing or
entertaining. Security is also a key issue, with 24-hour concierge ensuring peace of mind for all guests.
Docklands Serviced Apartments
is Accor’s 17th property in the Victorian capital.
