Shanghai is to get
a new chic, boutique hotel, JIA Shanghai, as owner Yenn Wong expands her highly successful JIA concept from Hong Kong to
China’s hottest city. JIA Shanghai will open its doors in mid-2006, two years after the successful launch of
JIA Hong Kong.
A 6,314 sq metre property located on Nanjing Road and Taixing Raod, the new 60-room boutique hotel marks the first of several expansions planned as part of the newly
created “JIA boutique hotels” brand.
“I am excited about introducing the JIA concept in such a great city as Shanghai,”
said the 27 year-old Singaporean founder and owner of JIA, Ms Yenn Wong.
“…and we will be expanding further with more new hotel and restaurant projects in Asia soon to be announced.”
JIA Shanghai will feature an executive floor of accommodation on the top floor with special facilities for
travellers who demand that little extra. Two penthouse suites are also located
on this floor, each with uniquely designed interconnecting functions to adjacent rooms to form larger 200 sq. metre suites. Other facilities in the hotel will include a
signature restaurant, chic lobby lounge and skybar with panoramic views. Retail outlets for luxury brands will be on the first and second floors for shopping
convenience. Guest rooms will average a spacious 45 sq metres and will provide the latest in-room communication and entertainment technology.
In booming Shanghai, JIA aims to emulate the success of Hong Kong’s JIA boutique hotel, the first Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel in Asia which has since
become a “home from home” for many, and which features 54 chic hotel rooms including two Penthouses.
