Korean Air has successfully completed its first IATA (International Air Transport Association) Operational Safety Audit to become an official IOSA registered carrier -
certification which has to date been granted to only 18 other airlines in the global industry.
A team of seven auditors from Aviation Quality Services (AQS), a highly respected audit organization certified by IATA, conducted a comprehensive operational safety
audit and determined that Korean Air met all 755 required international standards without a single documented finding. Korean Air is among the very few airlines in the
industry to successfully pass the audit on its first attempt. The audit was conducted in mid-January in eight operational areas-Corporate Organization & Management
Systems, Flight Operations, Flight Dispatch, Aircraft Engineering& Maintenance, Cabin Operations, Aircraft Ground Handling, Cargo Operations, and Aviation Security.
Korean Air has become the first carrier in Korea and in the SkyTeam alliance to successfully complete the IOSA audit. Korean Air and other IOSA registered carriers are
exempt from receiving code-share safety audits from partnered airlines during their period of certification. All IATA airlines must register to receive IOSA certification by 1
January, 2006.
