Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok completes first phase of US$7M Renovation project

Travel News Asia 2 March 2005

The Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok has completed the first phase of a US$7M refurbishment project with the introduction of seven Deluxe Corner Suites.

Designed by Jeffrey Wilkes of LTW Designworks, Kuala Lumpur, the one-bedroom suites' overall direction is clean and contemporary with a nod towards Thai heritage. Thai silks and cottons plus chenille fabrics with interwoven silk create a rich and sumptuous environment without compromising comfort. The two color schemes are Thai powder red against a golden sand base and Celadon green to offset the dark teak furniture and paneling. Carpets are custom made of hand knotted wool with a mix of loop and velvet pile.

The former dining and study area was reconfigured to expand the workspace while retaining a casual dining environment with a full bar section.

The décor is accented by individual pieces of Thai artifacts showcased in a sculpture niche separating the living room from the study/dining area.

The new central electronic lighting and A/C panel provides a single control point for the entire suite. A 42-inch Plasma Screen TV and DVD/CD entertainment center plus High-speed Internet access are discreetly incorporated into the design.

The bedroom reveals a clean, contemporary look that recreates the atmosphere of a private home. The vanity table was moved to the bedroom to take advantage of the natural daylight. The headboard relief motive is reminiscent of Thai temple architecture establishing a distinct sense of location for the visitor. The lamp design is sleek with simple timber and metal and shades in pearl colored silk. All fabrics were manufactured in Thailand.

“We are pleased to have completed this first phase of our refurbishment project” says Patrick Ghielmetti, General Manager. “Four Seasons guests are experienced travelers who expect state of the art amenities and appreciate a 'home away from home' atmosphere at the same time. The new design, combined with the unequalled Four Seasons’ service will greatly enhance the overall guest experience.” concludes Mr. Picquot.

The refurbishment project continues with a full guestroom renovation.
