Germania Fluggegesellschaft
is to have the overhaul of landing gear for its Boeing 737-700 fleet performed by KLM Engineering & Maintenance. A contract sealing this
agreement was signed today. The deal also enables Germania to borrow a complete landing gear during the period that its ten 737s are being maintained at KLM
Engineering & Maintenance at Schiphol.
The first overhaul of a landing gear is expected in March 2007. In advance, KLM Engineering & Maintenance will send a complete landing gear, a so-called ship set,
including the necessary installation tools, to Germania’s home base in Berlin. Following that, the landing gear of the Germania fleet will one-by-one be transported to
KLM Engineering & Maintenance at Schiphol, where the large overhaul will be carried out.
“Of the three reputable MRO providers with which we had discussions, KLM Engineering & Maintenance came out the strongest,”
said Andreas Wobig, Technical Director at Germania. “They offer the best product with the sharpest guarantee and conditions.”
Germania is the third airline company to contract the overhaul of its Boeing 737NG landing gear to KLM Engineering & Maintenance. Germania performs flights for
Hapag Lloyd Express, DBA and Air Berlin.
