In May 2005, Singapore welcomed 708,496 visitors, registering a 7.3% growth over the same period in
2004, with an estimated S$860 million in tourism receipts in May 2005, a 12% increase over May 2004.
Indonesia (135,000), India (72,000), P R China (63,000), Malaysia (48,000) and Australia (46,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in May 2005. These
markets accounted for 51% of the total visitor arrivals for the month.
In May 2005, Singapore hotels recorded S$97 million in room revenue, an increase of 17.5% over May 2004.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in May 2005 was estimated at S$133, an increase of 10.9% over
the same month in 2004. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated
to have reached 83% in May 2005, a 4% increase over May 2004.
