Thailand's
Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, today held the
second meeting of tourism professionals to discuss cooperation in
reviving tourism to Phuket and other popular tourist destinations in the
South such as Phang-nga, Krabi, and Trang.
During
the meeting Thai Airways International in cooperation with
the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and domestic carriers, such as Thai Air Asia, Nok Air, Bangkok
Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, and PB Air concluded that they would jointly organize a “Southern Paradise Re-Ignition Campaign” (Tiew Sanook Lod Sud Jai) with tour
packages for standard accommodation to Phuket, Krabi, Phang-nga, and Trang at a price starting from 4,000 baht per person, including air ticket, hotel accommodation,
for travel during the period 1 July – 31 October 2005. The promotional package is a domestic campaign aimed
at Thai residents.
In addition to these activities, THAI
confirmed it will organize other programs to help boost tourism in the 4 provinces such as
the Ambassador Golf Grand Tour program inviting corporate conference organizers to take advantage of the packages; Mega-Fam Trip for International journalists who will be invited to attend the 4 provinces to promote
tourism to Southern Thailand in order to witness tourism revival efforts; and Beach Queen Thailand Contest.
