The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is supporting the Hong Kong SAR Government’s initiative aimed at boosting the effects of tourism in Causeway Bay and
Wanchai. The programme will run throughout the festive season and will focus the attention of visitors and residents on these two
popular districts on Hong Kong Island.
In support of the initiative, the HKTB will operate a free circular shuttle service linking Golden Bauhinia Square with Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. The service, which will
run at 30-minute intervals between 11am and 8.30pm on 22 December-2 January, is aimed at encouraging visitors and residents to take part in activities in the two areas
and stimulate their spending. To publicise the programme, shuttle buses will be identified with banners, and special bus stops will be placed along the route at Lockhart
and Stewart roads, Lockhart and Marsh roads and 510-517 Hennessy Road.
Further enhancing the festive mood, the HKTB will also deploy Santa Clauses between the bus stops on Lockhart and Hennessy roads every afternoon on December
22-27, who will hand out souvenirs to passers-by. To sustain the effects of the promotion into the New Year, the HKTB is also distributing more than 30,000 tickets for
the forthcoming Product Expo in Victoria Park among prospective visitors and local trade operators in key markets around the world.
Welcoming the plan, HKTB Chairman, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, GBS, OBE, JP, said that it would reinforce the HKTB’s ongoing efforts to promote Causeway Bay and
Wanchai as two of Hong Kong’s leading areas for shopping, dining and entertainment. “We believe it will bring more visitors into the two districts,” she said, “and further
emphasises the staunch support of the Government for our tourism and related industries.”
