Marriott
International is expanding its weekly commission payments from hotels to travel agents by partnering with Pegasus
Solutions.
“Pegasus’ new implementation of weekly commission payments will enhance our relationship with our most important distributors, travel agents, and will ensure that
virtually all travel agencies will now receive their Marriott commissions weekly whether they receive their commissions through Pegasus or Marriott’s Central Travel
Agent Commission system,” said Fred Miller, vice president for global sales, Marriott International.
Agency members of Pegasus Commission Processing were
previously paid commissions on a monthly basis.
“Marriott has worked hand in hand with Pegasus since the initial launch of Pegasus Commission Processing back in 1992, and we're grateful for Marriott's participation
as we refined and implemented our new weekly cycle," said Bob Boles, chief operating officer of Pegasus Solutions. "We share Marriott's commitment to ensuring that
travel agents get paid accurate commissions as quickly as possible, and we look forward to Marriott's input as we continue enhancing our service to travel agencies.”
As part of this initiative, Pegasus is also enhancing the benefits of agency membership by introducing new electronic deposit options for payments to member travel
agency customers in approved countries. Currently, only U.S.-based agency members use direct deposit. This feature will allow member travel agencies in the countries
listed below to significantly increase cash flow via weekly electronic deposits, while simultaneously reducing banking charges typically incurred in the redeeming of
commission checks and drafts. Countries to receive electronic

Marriott will also continue to offer agency members of Pegasus Commission Processing its double commission guarantee. Marriott International is the only hotel
company to offer a double commission guarantee. The double commission guarantee applies only to unpaid commissionable transactions. The guarantee states that if
Marriott does not forward accurate commission information to Pegasus for payment within Pegasus’ business cycle, Marriott will then pay double commission to the
agent. Marriott Executive Apartments and The Ritz-Carlton properties do not participate in the double commission guarantee.
