Tiger Airways,
a low cost Singapore based airline, is to launch flights to Padang in West Sumatra,
Indonesia.
Flights to Padang, the main capital of West Sumatra, will commence on 19 May 2005 and tickets will go on sale on 22 March, with fares starting at just S$4.98 (one-way
excluding taxes and charges). Tickets are valid for travel from 19 May till 30 June 2005.
The carrier will have three flights a week initially to this popular tourist destination famous for some of the best surfing experiences in Asia Pacific. The city is served by
Tabing Airport and has a population of around 800,000 people,

Airways said, “We have the ability, we have the planes, we have potential customers all ready to experience what would be one of the lowest if not the lowest fares offered by any
airline to Indonesia. Tiger Airways is also keen to fly to other Indonesian cities and have applied for landing rights to both Jakarta and
Medan.”
The airline is now actively recruiting both pilots and cabin crew in Singapore to resource the airline’s continued network expansion.
