BroadcastAsia2006, organised by Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), has revealed a new theme for next year.
Next year’s theme, “Digital: The Journey Forward”, embodies BroadcastAsia’s positioning to embrace the digital revolution and constantly ‘go forward’ by staying
relevant to the industry, while its subtitle, “The 11th International Digital Multimedia & Entertainment Technology & Conference”, has also been updated to reflect the
show’s progress.
These changes are more than just aesthetic, as pointed out by Jackson Yeoh, Project Director, Singapore Exhibition Services Pte Ltd (SES). “BroadcastAsia is paving a
road where there’s something for everyone. If exhibitors and visitors wish to blaze trails by speeding up, they can, and if they are driving the digital transition at a slower
pace, they can do so too. The key here is that ultimately, everyone is moving forward, and everyone has the same thing in mind – reaching that ‘digital destination’”, he
said.
With the opening of companies such as Lucasfilm, Electronic Arts’ (EA) studio and a commitment of $1 billion over the next 10 years by the Economic Development
Board to develop the digital media industry in Singapore, BroadcastAsia’s focus on ‘going digital’ could not be more timely. Singapore wants to develop its media industry to
contribute 3% GDP by 2012 and attract more digital media players to set up base in
Singapore.
Next year’s show will also include technology highlights that focus on the latest in internet protocol television (IPTV), broadcasting to handhelds, video on demand,
personal video recording, digital audio broadcasting (DAB), tapeless technology, computer graphics and animation, and high-definition (HD) technology.
These highlights will be supplemented by a series of activities ranging from in-depth conference presentations demonstrations, tutorial classes, and stimulating panel
discussions.
BroadcastAsia2006 includes the BroadcastAsia International Conference and incorporates ComGraphics&Animation2006, ProfessionalAudioTechnology2006 and
CableSat2006 shows.
