The
first-ever Airbus A380, in an airline's full livery graced the skies of
Dubai last Saturday. The Airbus A380 in Emirates full livery flew low along Dubai's
beachfront, offering many their first glimpse of this mammoth aircraft.
Piloted by
Captain Claude Lelaie of Airbus, the aircraft glided several times along the beach at 1500 feet, thrilling the city's residents and visitors alike, many capturing the
sight on their mobiles and cameras.
The
Airbus A380 being displayed in Dubai is one of five aircraft in a flight
test programme that began in April this year and will total some 2,500
hours. Its cabin is full of heavy test-instrumentation - including
recorders and barrels of water to simulate the weight of passengers and
cargo.
The
is taking place
between 20 and 24 November 2005, at the Airport Expo in Dubai.
