Corinthia Hotels International recently held its annual sales conference, bringing together representatives from CHI’s regional sales offices in major tourism generating
markets, including the US, UK, Germany, France and Italy, and the various sales managers from CHI’s 20 hotel properties worldwide.
Corinthia, a Malta-based hospitality chain of four and five star hotels in 11
destinations, spanning Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean Basin, is planning on
expanding the brand to 40-50 properties in the next few years. Karmenu Vella, CHI Chairman, in his opening remarks, told the sales team “it is important to consolidate
the present success of the 20 CHI properties as a catalyst to the addition of further hotels to the CHI worldwide portfolio.”
As part of Corinthia’s global marketing strategy CHI is continually expanding its worldwide network of regional sales offices. According to Geoff Andrew, Group Director
of Sales & Marketing, “In 2005 alone, we have already opened up regional sales offices in the US, Sweden, Austria and India. We are seeing the results as the Corinthia
Brand is becoming better known in the travel industry in these tourism source markets.”
The sales meeting was preceded by a two-day workshop dedicated solely to the development of skills and tactics required in the meetings, incentives, conference and
events (MICE) market. CHI’s Premier Collection of six five-star award winning properties, feature world class facilities for meetings, conferences and incentive groups in
some of the hottest MICE market destinations: Corinthia Alfa Hotel, Lisbon; Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal, Budapest; Corinthia Towers Hotel, Prague; the Corinthia
Nevskij Palace Hotel, St Petersburg ; Corinthia San Gorg, Malta; and the Corinthia Bab Africa, Tripoli. This sector is such a key element in CHI’s marketing mix because
of its Premier Collection, that Corinthia established a MICE program, with dedicated staff experienced in guaranteeing the
clients a ‘Success Full’ and ‘Stress Free’ conference or event.
CHI’s group director of sales and marketing Geoff Andrew led proceedings at the sales conference. Apart from the operational teams, the event was also attended by
other senior officials from CHI head office, including Chairman Karmenu Vella, and chief officers David Woodward and Paul
Bugeja.
