Vineet Bhatia, the chef- patron of Rasoi in London and the first Indian chef to receive a globally-acclaimed Michelin star, will open the contemporary Indian restaurant
Indego at Grosvenor House, West Marina Beach by Le Meridien this summer.
Indego offers up traditional spiced dishes, but with fine-dining presentation - and without a balti dish in sight.
Bhatia, who made his name with Safran in Mauritius, the British Airways Culinary Council and Rasoi Vineet Bhatia in London, is the latest big-name chef to sign to
Grosvenor House.
Satish Shenoy, Indego’s head chef who studied under Bhatia,
said, “With most Indian restaurants, you must choose a region or settle for a fusion. Indego offers a
completely different dining experience for guests.
“For example, everybody knows and loves chicken tikka masala; however, you will experience those same authentic flavours at Indego in a completely different way –
no bowls, no sharing.”
Born and raised in Mumbai, Bhatia trained with European chefs in India and later moved to London where he immediately opened a series of restaurants, culminating in
the Michelin award. He will open Indego this summer and visit Dubai several times a year.
Executive chef Patrick Lannes
said, “Dubai is the perfect destination for the introduction of innovative food concepts, not least because residents and visitors know
what is trendy but also what is authentic. Bhatia’s reputation and outstanding cuisine precedes
him.”
