Qantas Freight
is to add Christchurch to its trans-Tasman freight services from 9 January 2006.
The Christchurch service
is an add-on to the Qantas QF7624 Auckland-Sydney freight service, which was introduced in January 2003 to serve the trans-Tasman express market.
"The early morning service from Christchurch will provide additional freight capacity to the New Zealand market. In particular, it will facilitate the export of perishables
and seafood to Australia, and Asia and North America," Executive General Manager Associated Businesses, Denis
Adams said.
The Qantas Boeing 767-300 Auckland-Sydney freight service (QF7624) operates four times a week, departing Auckland on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays. From 9 January 2006 the service will include Christchurch with an Auckland-Christchurch-Sydney routing.
In addition, Qantas flight QF049 from Sydney to Auckland connects with QF7624 offering a seamless wide-bodied connection between Sydney and Christchurch.
Qantas QF7623 Sydney-Auckland overnight express freight service remains unchanged departing Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
