Dragonair plans to operate 61 additional flights and use larger aircraft on nine services in the two-week period covering the Lunar New Year holidays.
Taipei will see the biggest increase in flights, with an extra 16 services operated, followed by Kota Kinabalu, 13, Guilin, nine, and
Kaohsiung, eight.
The routes on which larger aircraft will be used are Bangkok, four, Shanghai, also four, and Beijing, one.
“The Lunar New Year period is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods for us,” Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hui said.
“As usual, the high number of business people returning home to Taiwan will result in flights to the island increasing substantially. Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu is proving
the most popular sun-and-sand destination. Our services to Phuket, meanwhile, will remain suspended over the holidays, as demand on this route remains low.”
The total number of additional flights that Dragonair is operating is similar to last year, 65.
“We expect passenger numbers to be at a similar level to the Lunar New Year holiday last year,” Mr Hui said.
