Travellers
now stand the chance to win a trip on Singapore Airlines to a destination of
choice when travelling through Singapore Changi Airport from now until 30
November 2005.
The A380 Experience Starts In Singapore Quiz-and-Draw is the first in a series of promotions in the lead up to the arrival of the worlds first fully double-decker
Super Jumbo aircraft, the Airbus
A380, in Singapore. The competition is jointly organised by Singapore Airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore
(CAAS), which develops and manages Singapore Changi Airport.
Up for grabs for participants are three
prizes:
1st prize: A pair of Raffles Class round-trip tickets anywhere on the Singapore Airlines network
2nd prize: A pair of Economy Class round-trip tickets anywhere on the Singapore Airlines network
3rd prize: A pair of Economy Class round-trip tickets between Singapore and any Southeast Asian destination in the Singapore Airlines network
To qualify, participants simply need to answer two short questions related to Singapore Airlines and Singapore Changi Airports preparations for the A380s arrival in
Singapore. The winners will be selected at random from an audited draw of all correct entries.
Contest forms are available at all CAAS Information
and Customer Service Counters within the airports transit areas of both Terminals 1 and 2. When completed, forms
should be dropped off at the designated collection box in front of the Singapore Airlines A380 model aircraft on display along the main shopping belt in Terminal 2.
Singapore Changi Airport will be the first airport in the world to receive the A380. Singapore Airlines will operate the inaugural commercial service of this aircraft soon
after it arrives in Singapore at the end of 2006.
CAAS is spending S$60 million to get Singapore Changi Airports Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 ready to accommodate the A380 aircraft operations in 2006. Modifications
works, which started in early 2004, include the installation of a third Passenger Loading Bridge which will allow passengers direct access to the upper deck of the A380.
Other works include the modification of gate holdrooms, widening of runway shoulders as well as runway-taxiway and taxiway-taxiway intersections. In addition, two
A380-compatible freighter aircraft stands and remote aircraft parking stands have been constructed.
Singapore Airlines has 10 A380 aircraft on firm order and 15 on option. The aircraft will first be used on the Kangaroo route between Singapore, Sydney and London.
The aircraft will seat less than 480 passengers in a three-class configuration, although it has been designed to accommodate 555 passengers in the same layout.
