Changi International Airport Services' (CIAS) Chief Executive Lee Chee Yeng today announced his intention to retire with effect from 1 June 2005.
His deputy Georgie Ong, currently Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Marketing,
has been named as his successor.
Mr. Lee
said, "The past 18 months have been tremendously positive for CIAS. We have won over new customers, and have realized many efficiencies and synergies
through our association with Dnata. Secure in the knowledge that CIAS is on a steady growth path, I feel that this is a good time for me to step back and pass the baton."
He
added, "Georgie brings with him many years of industry experience and I am confident in his capabilities to lead CIAS through future challenges."
Georgie Ong has been with CIAS since its inception in 1978, and has seen the company grow to the 1,200-strong team today. On his promotion to Chief Executive
Officer, current Finance Manager Goh Hui Chen will assume the role of CFO.
Gary Chapman, President of Dnata
said, "CIAS has grown from strength to strength under Chee Yeng's leadership, and we are grateful for his many invaluable
contributions. We welcome Georgie Ong to the helm of CIAS, and we look forward to working closely with him and the management team in charting the company's
continued success."
Mr. Chapman added that the forthcoming changes in CIAS' senior management will not detract the company from its goal to provide customers with the best possible
service, while maintaining cost efficiencies. Dnata will also continue to work closely with the CIAS management team to tap on operational synergies and build on
business opportunities.
In 2004, Dubai-based Dnata acquired a 78 percent shareholding in CIAS from Temasek Holdings. It has since acquired the remaining minority shares and has assumed
full ownership of CIAS.
