Air Arabia,
a Sharjah based low cost airline, is set to showcase for the second year running on the Sharjah Commerce &
Tourism Development Authority stand at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2005, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 3-6 May.
Completing 18 months of operations at the end of this month, Air Arabia recently announced its first year financial results – financially breaking even, growing from 5 to
16 destinations, a team of over 300 employees, flying 5,398 sectors and logging over 13,000 flight hours with a fleet of 5 aircraft Airbus A320s.
“This time last year Air Arabia was still in its infancy, we were 6 months old and flying to 9 countries, now we fly to 16 and carried approximately 700,000 passengers up
to the end of 2004,” said Adel Ali, Air Arabia’s CEO.
He
added, “The regional acceptance of this new travel concept has been enormous. We can only look to grow travel
within the region and neighbouring countries and continue to offer a safe, efficient and competitive method of air travel to all types of travelers – for business, holidays,
visiting family and simply experiencing what the region has to offer.”
Exhibiting as part of the Sharjah stand, the airline will be encouraging visitors to sample the Air Arabia experience and Sharjah, the airline’s hub. Visitors will be able to
test the latest in customer comfort with actual airline seats, as well as take a glimpse at the entertainment offered with Air Arabia’s in-flight video and audio options.
Served by friendly, multilingual cabin crew, a selection of Air Arabia’s in-flight menu will also be on offer for visitors to sample the variety of appetising snacks and drinks
onboard, which are offered for purchase at the discretion of the passenger – just one of the reasons that the airline is able to offer competitive and value for money fares
by giving customers the choice to purchase onboard.
“We want to give people who have not yet had the opportunity to travel with us, a chance to sample the Air Arabia experience,” said Air Arabia’s Head of Sales,
A.K. Nizar. “From the latest in customer comfort with the Airbus A320 to the service that customers experience onboard, the ATM is the ideal venue for us to showcase what
the first low fares airline in the MENA region can really offer,” he added.
Visitors to Air Arabia's stand will also be able to participate in
a daily quiz that will be on offer to win airline tickets - to some of their key destinations including their
latest destination, India, through answering some questions on the airline itself.
Air Arabia currently flies from Sharjah ten times a week to Alexandria; daily to Bahrain, Beirut, Colombo, Damascus, Doha, Mumbai and Muscat; five days a week to
Kuwait; four days a week to Dammam; three days a week to Khartoum and Aleppo; and two days a week to Assiut, Jeddah, Riyadh and Sana’a.
