American Airlines
has launched its new daily nonstop services between Chicago O’Hare International Airport
and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India. The route to Delhi, India’s capital and third-largest city is nearly 7,500 miles and
is the longest nonstop route in American’s growing international network. The new flight
is being operated with American’s Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
"After four months of planning and coordinating, we’re delighted to begin our nonstop service from Chicago to Delhi,” said Henry Joyner, American’s Senior Vice
President – Planning. "India is a fast growing international market for passenger and cargo traffic and we’re pleased to add this new Delhi service to our growing list of
international cities served from our Gateway to the World hub at Chicago O’Hare.”
American’s Boeing 777s feature 16 fully reclining First Class seats, 35 Business Class seats offering a spacious 60-inch pitch, and 194 seats in the Main Cabin. First
Class and Business Class passengers will have access to a number of other amenities for use at their convenience, including powerports at each seat. Powerports are
also available in the Main Cabin at selected seats.
With
assistance from the American Airlines Indian Employee Resource Group, and in conjunction with Indian chefs based in the U.S. and India, American structured a special
menu for the Delhi flights that features Indian, Indian-inspired vegetarian and Western meal selections. No beef or pork will be served on the flights to and from Delhi.
Only chicken, lamb and seafood dishes will be featured.
In addition to “CBS Eye on American” television programming and movies such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," American’s Delhi flights will feature Bollywood
movies in Hindi with English subtitles. In November, "Kya Kool Hai Hum" ("We Are Cool People") and "Main Aisa Hi Hoon" ("It's Who I Am") will be shown.
