Singapore records 8.2% increase in Visitor Arrivals in June 2005

Singapore posted S$2.48 billion in tourism receipts from January to March 2005, a 16% increase over the same period in 2004.

From January to June 2005, Singapore welcomed 4,187,428 visitors, registering a 8.2% growth over the same period a year ago.

Indonesia (847,000), China (352,000), Australia (292,000), India (288,000) and Malaysia (276,000) were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets from January to June 2005. These markets accounted for 49% of total visitor arrivals for the month.

From January to June 2005, Singapore hotels recorded S$549 million in room revenue, an increase of 11.6% over the same period in 2004.

The Average Room Rate (ARR) from January to June 2005 was estimated at S$132, an increase of 8.2% over the same period in 2004. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to have reached 82% in January to June 2005, a 4 percentage points increase over the same period last year.

In June 2005, Singapore welcomed 746,541 visitors, registering an 8.6% growth over the same period a year ago.

Indonesia (161,000), India (66,000), China (61,000), Australia (55,000) and Malaysia (53,000) were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets in June 2005. These markets accounted for 53% of total visitor arrivals for the month.

In June 2005, Singapore hotels recorded S$113 million in room revenue, an increase of 29.1% over June 2004.

The Average Room Rate (ARR) in June 2005 was estimated at S$134, an increase of 8.6% over June 2004. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to have reached 88% in June 2005, a 5 percentage points increase over June 2004.
