One of China’s premier holiday and conference destinations, Hainan Island, is to welcome a new luxury Sofitel resort by the end of December
2005 - the Sofitel Fizi Haikou.
The eight-storey, 308 room hotel is currently being developed by one of China’s leading residential and commercial property developers, the Fizi Group.
Sofitel Fizi Haikou enjoys a prime location on the rapidly developing Xinhai’an peninsular, otherwise known as ‘the new coast’ or ‘West Coast’. Here, Sofitel guests will
be treated to an enviable sandy, white beach frontage within easy distance of numerous other beaches, coves and golf courses.
The West Coast area is served by a newly constructed landscaped boulevard that links the beach area to the centre of Haikou, allowing easy access to the town centre
and airport. Haikou airport, the largest airport on Hainan Island, serviced daily by a number of major cities in China and elsewhere in Asia.
The resort joins another Sofitel hotel on Hainan Island, the Sofitel Boao. Together, the hotels are expected to increase Sofitel’s share of Hainan island’s burgeoning
conference and incentive market.
Sofitel Fizi Haikou’s extensive conference and function facilities will include a ballroom, state-of-the-art business centre and five meeting rooms.
Recreation facilities include an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, plus a health centre and relaxation spa. There will be a choice of three different restaurants including a Chinese
restaurant, a specialty restaurant and an outdoor BBQ to take full advantage of the tropical weather.
Pristine beaches, tropical waters and a lush green interior make Hainan a dream destination for leisure travellers. Almost half way across the world on the same
21-degree latitude, Hainan is quickly developing a reputation as ‘China’s Hawaii’.
With almost 1,530km of coastline, little seasonal change and annual average temperatures of 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, Hainan is quickly becoming a sought-after
destination as tourists realise how quiet, relaxing and green the island actually is.
Haikou, the largest urban area on Hainan, offers a wealth of historical and scenic spots.
