The fully furnished apartment suites
at the Grosvenor House Dubai have been named the World’s Leading Hotel Serviced Apartments at the World Travel
Awards in London.
A record number of travel professionals
- more than 170,000 - voted for this year’s awards, which are the traditional curtain-raiser to
the World Travel Market, an annual global travel and tourism trade show
held in November in London. The achievement is compounded by the fact that the property – both hotel and apartments – has only been open since
June 2005.
The 205 luxury apartment suites of Grosvenor House were recognised for their seamless service and elegant surroundings at Dubai
Marina. In addition, voters recognised the fact that residents have access to the facilities at Grosvenor House hotel, including
Retreat health and spa and 13 signature restaurants
including Buddha Bar.
The growing need for upscale serviced hotel apartments was identified before ground broke on the project in 2003, according to general manager Pam
Wilby.
“There are currently more than 100 buildings in Dubai that offer hotel apartments, and this number is predicted to grow in line with the visitor numbers, which are
currently rising at around 15% year on year.
“While the number of units in the market is more than 7,000, we believed that the gap is providing furnished apartments, with the exceptional service delivery of a
property like Grosvenor House, and top-class facilities that unite to create an urban retreat in new Dubai.
“When we opened in June, we tipped Grosvenor House’s ‘exclusive lifestyle and exclusive address’ as one that had the potential to become as synonymous with style
as Rue Faubourg in Paris, Park Lane in London and Fifth Avenue in New York. This is the first step to achieving that.”
The apartment suites are available for a combination of long lease and short lease, and according to Wilby, this has proved to be a key selling point for UAE residents
and visitors alike.
Wilby
said, “These are the first furnished apartment suites to be available to lease on the Dubai Marina - the neighbouring developments are buy-to-own
- and our guests enjoy the same service, décor and facilities in the apartments which is experienced in the hotel.”
All 205 apartment suites have 24 hour butler and room service, as well as ‘sign and dine’ facilities across the 13 restaurants and bars at Grosvenor House and the 14
outlets of Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa Dubai.
Wide-screen plasma televisions, high-speed internet access and fully equipped kitchens come as standard in every
apartment and all have stunning views over the marina, many coming courtesy of floor-to-ceiling bay windows.
One of the key selling-points of the apartment suites – and indeed, the hotel rooms – is the access to the cutting-edge NeosTv in-room entertainment network.
NeosTv is an interactive digital information and entertainment system that delivers movies-on-demand with DVD functionality, as well as high-speed internet through the
television. In addition, the system offers electronic guest services, web radio as well as music on demand.
Wilby
explained, “With the development of computer-based high-end entertainment systems, we are able to offer residents and guests free access to in-house music
and movie libraries – some of the comforts many travellers miss – as well as radio stations from their home countries.”
The upcoming Dubai Marina has been earmarked by developers as ‘the lifestyle hub of Dubai’ and was the first residential project to be available to expatriates in Dubai.
Grosvenor House, West Marina Beach by Le Meridien, has 422 rooms, suites and apartment
suites offering stunning sea and marina views. The top 11 floors are dedicated
to the Grosvenor Club, premium executive accommodation, whose guests also have access to the 44th floor dedicated lounge.
