Galaxy appoints new CEO

Travel News Asia 14 June 2005

Galaxy Travel Distribution System has appointed Mr Wutthilerd Chiannilkulchai, as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Wutthilerd, who prefers to be called by his nickname ‘Eddie’, replaces Mr Paul J. Casey, who recently resigned the position to spend more time with his family in the United States.

For over 10 years, Eddie has served as President and CEO of Neo Metrix Holdings Group with 20 subsidiaries, the second largest gasoline wholesaler in Thailand with over US$250 million in annual sales. He is also a director and shareholder of the group. He has a background in accounting and computer engineering management, and holds an MBA degree.

Since October 1999, Eddie has served as a lead investor in Galaxy and a major advisor to the company. For the past six years, Eddie has been a regular and active participant in major Galaxy activities. For example, in 2002, he helped spearhead the creation, launch and expansion of Galaxy’s global solutions for Galaxy TDS.

In addition to gaining significant experience with the business firsthand, Eddie has been a frequent participant at Galaxy regional and global sales and National Marketing Company (NMC) meetings, and has regularly participated as a Galaxy representative at major global and regional trade events.

As the new CEO, his goal is to build Galaxy into a global aggregator of comprehensive travel products for the travel and tourism industry.

“Galaxy has significantly expanded its unique suite of on-line travel solutions; enhanced its supply and distribution of online travel products through major corporate link-ups and affiliations; expanded into key markets around the world; and effectively positioned and strengthened the brand worldwide.”

“Our goal now is to take Galaxy to the next level of development and market acceptance, using speed to achieve our commercial objectives,” Eddie added.
