Finnair traffic, measured in passenger kilometers, increased by 10.4% in
June 2005, while capacity was up by 5.7%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 75.2% or 3.2
points higher than in 2004. All Finnair Group airlines altogether transported 774,900 passengers, which is 6.3% more than
in 2004.
Finnair scheduled traffic increased by 8.4% compared to June last year. Passenger load factor was 71.0%, up 4.4 percentage points.
The number of passengers carried was 623,300, up 4.6%.
Finnair's Tallinn-based subsidiary Aero AS, carried 62,900 passengers (+450.2%) on routes between Helsinki and the Baltic capitals and within Southern Finland. During
June, Stockholm-based flynordic continued to gain market share and carried 98,300 passengers (+59.0%). Aero and flynordic figures are
included in the Finnair Group's total figures.
Departure punctuality of scheduled flights was 89.9% (based on a fifteen minute standard), 2.1 points higher than in June 2004. Including leisure flights departure
punctuality was 88.9% (+2.2 p.p). Arrival punctuality of scheduled flights was 91.4% and that of all operations was 89.9%.
Scheduled traffic
In scheduled traffic (international + domestic) revenue passenger kilometres increased by 8.4%. The change in capacity was +1.6%. Passenger load factor was 71.0%,
4.4 percentage points higher than last year.
In scheduled international traffic,
the total number of passengers was up by 11.3%. Capacity in ASKs was +2.5%, while RPKs increased by 10.2%.
In European scheduled traffic, ASKs increased by 0.8%, and as RPKs increased by 9.7%, the passenger load factor was 68.0%, up 5.5 points
over 2004.
In North Atlantic scheduled traffic, capacity decreased by 1.8%. Change in RPKs was -2.6%, and
the passenger load factor for June was 89.2%, 0.8 points lower than in
2004.
The
Asian scheduled traffic, capacity increase was 6.0%. Passenger traffic was up by 14.7%. Passenger load factor was 75.9%, 5.8 percentage points up.
Domestic scheduled traffic decreased by 10.9% on a capacity decrease of 6.1%. Passenger load factor decreased by 2.7 percentage points to 51.8%.
Leisure traffic
ASKs for leisure traffic increased in June by 21.6%, and RPKs increased by 15.9%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 89.2%, 4.3 points lower than last year.
Cargo
Cargo traffic increased by 2.0% in terms of cargo tonnes carried. Growth in scheduled traffic was +0.9%. Increase in Asian traffic was +8.6%. Volume in European traffic
decreased by 6.8%. In North-Atlantic traffic cargo volume increased by 1.3%. Cargo traffic carried on chartered cargo flights increased by 8.7%. The cargo load factor
was 63.4%. The cargo load factor in the Far Eastern traffic was 74.7% and in the North Atlantic traffic 66.6%.
