Etihad Crystal Cargo has
commenced two weekly freighter flights from Abu Dhabi to Chennai, India. Chennai is Etihad Crystal Cargo's second
freighter destination in India and its fifth global all-cargo destination.
The cargo services division of Etihad Airways first started its freighter flights to India with the launch of a freighter service to Mumbai in February 2005.
"The Indian Subcontinent is a very dynamic market for cargo services. Etihad's Abu Dhabi-Mumbai route has been a tremendous success, which we are extending into
other booming cities in India. The Mumbai route has shown very high payloads and we are extremely confident that the new freighter to Chennai will further enhance our
Indian operations," said Robert W. Strodel, Etihad's Head of Cargo & Mail.
Currently, Etihad Crystal Cargo provides scheduled services to Frankfurt, Milan, Amman, Mumbai and Chennai.
Etihad Crystal Cargo now operates two Airbus freighters, an A300-600F and an A310-300F. Plans are underway to expand its fleet with the addition of an A300-600F in
August 2005. By the end of 2006, it expects to have a fleet of six freighters.
