Travel News Asia 1 March 2005

There will be more than 150,000 seats up for grabs, when Silk Air's first travel fair takes off from 5- 6 March 2005 at Raffles City Atrium in Singapore. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with hundreds of beach, spa, golf and cultural holiday packages to SilkAir's 26 exotic destinations in the region, priced at special rates, with up to 60% savings on selected offerings.

A 3 day-2 night trip to Lombok (Indonesia) or Da Nang (Vietnam) for example, is attractively priced at SGD199. Unwind in Phuket at just SGD99 for 3 days and 2 nights. (Packages include airfare, accomodation, transfers and daily breakfast) Lifestyle services like golf games; spa, massage or hot spring sessions will be tagged on selected packages. Packages and special fares are valid for travel between 7 March and 30 June 2005. Terms & conditions apply.

SilkAir is expecting some 50,000 visitors at the weekend fair."Whether it's inspiration for short weekend escapes or the vacation of a lifetime, our travel fair will present choice offerings for holiday-makers to customise a vacation getaway that suits their preferences specifically," said Mike Barclay, Chief Executive, SilkAir.

"We're also seeing a trend toward the revival of holiday packages. Customers, particularly families are seeing value in package deals over standalone single-way fares and are placing a premium on securing assigned seats on confirmed return flights, quality accomodation with breakfast and the convenience of pre-arranged transfers," Mr Lim said. "The holiday starts on SilkAir - our warm cabin service, hot meals, a full bar service, in-flight entertainment and the extras make for a great prelude to any vacation," he added.

On 5 and 6 March 2005, Raffles City's busy atrium will be transformed into themed displays of 'unwinding experiences' that reflect the breadth and range of SilkAir's network of destinations in Indonesia, China, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
