British Airways completes Gatwick Fleet Improvement

Travel News Asia 1 March 2005

Passengers travelling to any of British Airways’ longhaul travel destinations from London Gatwick can now experience the airline's Club World flat beds as well as World Traveller Plus, its premier economy cabin on every flight.

The airline has completed fitting the improved products on all its Boeing 777 aircraft operating direct services from Gatwick to twelve destinations in the USA and the Caribbean.

Newly ‘fitted’ routes are Antigua, Tobago, St. Lucia, Grenada, Kingston, Orlando and Tampa. Services to Houston, Dallas, Bermuda, Atlanta and Barbados were completed last year.

The introduction is part of the on-going roll-out of British Airways’ next generation of products across the airline’s fleet.

Passengers will be able to enjoy the comfort of a six foot fully flat-bed in Club World, as well as a state of the art multi-channel entertainment system, a moveable privacy screen and business facilities.

World Traveller Plus is a dedicated cabin offering additional space and comfort to the economy traveller by providing a new wider seat with 7” more legroom. In addition passengers are able to view an extensive choice of entertainment channels, read a complimentary pre-flight newspaper and receive a priority meal and drinks service.

Bill Erskine, general manager Gatwick, said, “Customer feedback to these ground-breaking products has been extremely positive and we are delighted to be able to extend the benefits to all our transatlantic passengers travelling from London Gatwick.”
