Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition
Centre has been honoured with the prestigious Patron of the Arts Award 2005.
This annual award is given to organisations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the promotion and development of the arts in Singapore.
Singapore's Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts will present the award on 13 September 2005 at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
A long time supporter of the arts, Suntec Singapore has contributed generously towards the promotion and organization of artistic activities. “We are pleased with this
award which recognises our efforts in providing a platform for the development of arts in Singapore. We look forward to doing more to propel the progress of the arts
scene in Singapore in partnership with the government’s effort to build an international arts hub,”
said CEO Warren J. Buckley.
The convention centre has been actively promoting art events through close partnership with the Singapore Art Museum. An example is the ‘Fernando Botero Show in
Singapore’, where an impressive Botero bronze sculpture was the centerpiece of the exhibition at the convention centre. A groundbreaking public forum ‘Botero and Ju
Ming : A Dialogue with two Masters’ also took place at the venue.
In addition to showcasing internationally-known work, Suntec Singapore also tied up with ‘artivities for the young’. Last year, Suntec Singapore collaborated with the
Ministry of Education to feature outstanding art and design works from local school students.
