Toshiyuki Shinmachi, currently president of Japan Airlines Corporation, the JAL Group holding company,
was today designated as the new JAL Group C.E.O.. As the appointment is subject to the approval of the
general meeting of stockholders in late June, he will continue as president in the meantime.
If
approved Shinmachi will take over from Isao Kaneko, who is currently the
JAL Group chairman and C.E.O.
Toshiyuki
Shinmachi, 62, a graduate from Gakushuin University in Tokyo, joined
Japan Airlines in 1965. He was appointed President in June 2004.
