Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic to offer more Combined Fares

Travel News Asia 10 March 2005

From 01 April 2005, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Airways will be offering more itineraries to their already-comprehensive suite of circular, round-the-world and triangular fare products.

Taking advantage of the latest Virgin Atlantic sector between Hong Kong and Sydney, customers can travel between Sydney and London with a stop either in Singapore on one way and Hong Kong on the other.

For example, on a circular fare, passengers may fly from Australia via Singapore and return via Hong Kong, experiencing two vibrant, exciting stopover cities without the need for any sidetrip flights.

Customers can also avail themselves of the triangular fare, flying from London to Cape Town direct on Virgin Atlantic, continuing on their journey to Singapore for business or pleasure before returning to London on Singapore Airlines.

These combined fares are the latest example of cooperation between the two carriers, which includes a reciprocal frequent flyer relationship, a joint lounge access agreement, codeshare arrangements on several routes and round-the-world-fares.

"By working closely with our partner Virgin Atlantic, both airlines are able to steadily increase the portfolio of combined fares offerings to our passengers and give them more choice of connections from major air hubs to various parts of the world. SIA's extensive route network coupled with Virgin Atlantic's comprehensive services from London, enables both airlines to offer a broader network for business and leisure travellers alike", said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, SIA's Executive Vice President Marketing and the Regions.

Mr Willy Boulter, Commercial Director for Virgin Atlantic said, "Adding more itineraries to our combined fare products with Singapore Airlines offers passengers more flexibility and travel options along with excellent and innovative service quality on both airlines."

Singapore Airlines' passenger route network covers 60 destinations worldwide while Virgin Atlantic covers 23 cities. Taking into account services with all its codeshare partners, Singapore Airlines' route network extends to 133 destinations in 40 countries.
