The ‘electronic distribution’ training programme introduced by the Great Hotels Organisation
(GHO) earlier this year, has been the key factor for growth recorded in the first three quarters of
2005, the group said..
The GHO GW chain code has reported a like-for-like overall growth of 78.9% in the past year; considerably outperforming the industry average of 19% (Merrill Lynch).
ADS bookings increased by 97% during that period; GDS by 72%.
Yunna Takeuchi, Director of e-Distribution at GHO,
explained, “We have been focussing on improving our relationships with the major third party internet sites to give
our hotels priority ranking, better visibility and the ability to load competitive rates.
“We also place high importance on content and undertake meticulous content revisions. It’s this combination which has helped us to achieve such significant growth.”
The GHO ‘electronic distribution’ training programme provides a forum in which it can pass on knowledge to member hotels and empower them to manage their
inventory and maximise revenue. To date, 20% of GHO's member hotels have undergone training.
George Zambaglou, Sales Manager, Leptos Calypso Hotels
said, “The training seminars were very efficient in terms of increasing revenues. They equipped me with
everything that we need as a company to promote our hotels globally.”
