Sisaket is a province in the north east of Thailand that shares
its border with Surin, Roi-Et, Yasothon, Ubon Ratchathani and
Cambodia.
As in most parts of Isaan, Sisaket has an economy that is
traditionally based on agriculture and produces some of the best
fruit, flowers and vegetables in the Kingdom of Thailand. The durian,
mangosteen and rambutan from Sisaket are especially famous, as is
the cloth made from silk and cotton and woven in a khit (ผ้าขิด)
pattern.
Below is an assortment of pictures from a recent trip to
Sisaket province designed to
highlight how local communities are working together to promote
their village and way of life to tourists - both Thai residents
and visitors from overseas. This community-based tourism includes
visits to farms, getting the opportunity to buy an assortment of locally made
items, experiencing the growing number of local tourist
attractions, and even being able to stay in a homestay.
The pictures below were taken in the Yang Chum Noi, Kanthararom,
Kann Bay, Kaban-Kabai, Srirathana, Huay Ta Bamboo Bridge and Baan
Nong Ngoo Leuam. Read more about:
