Prasat
Hin Phimai, located around 45 kilometres from Korat (also known as
Nakhon Ratchasima which doubles as the name of the province) is a United Nations World Heritage
site, and one of the most important Khmer monuments in Thailand. Phimai
is a popular tourist attraction for those visiting Nakhon Ratchasima and
even Khao Yai a little further away.
While
Phimai Historical Park is normally open to visitors in the daytime only,
occasionally there are special events held during the evening, when the
impressive history of the area is demonstrated through performances and
special light and sound shows.
On the following pages we take a
pictorial look at Phimai, and also share with you some
pictures from the Bai Sri Su Khwan ceremony, and a memorable night-time
folk performance, Vimaya Nattakarn dance drama, with light and sound
presentation, graciously presided over by the Thai Minister of Tourism
and Sports, H.E. Mr. Weerasak
Kowsurat.
