On 5 November 2016, many of the leaders within the Ku Ka Sing
community of Kaset Wisai in Roi-Et, Thailand held a special rice
cutting ceremony in honour of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej
of Thailand.
The hom mali (jasmine rice) fields where the ceremony
took place are new, and were actually constructed in the late
King's honour a few years ago.
Ku Ka Sing is not yet all that well known for tourists but it
is located within one of the world's most important jasmine rice
growing regions. In addition to agriculture it is also an area of
historical importance, and there are some Khmer ruins not far from
the rice fields which are free to visit, and often used in TV and
film productions. See:
