EIBTM 2002 JUST BURSTING WITH NEW IDEAS
EIBTM 2002, the number one global event for the incentive, business travel and meetings industry, has introduced a new program of events and activities, along with a range of innovative features and improvements that will ensure EIBTM is the most effective meetings and incentives exhibition in the world.
EIBTM will once again be held at Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland from May 21 to 23, 2002.
New Association Seminar Program
This year EIBTM offers association buyers the opportunity to attend a unique education program, tailored to their needs, focusing on key issues in meetings organisation. Delegates will attend a morning educational session designed to help them plan successful events that run smoothly and are financially viable. Program highlights include a session on preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), where delegates will be able to develop their own RFP for immediate use during EIBTM. There is also a session on VAT, explaining how to register and the implication of not registering.
In the afternoon, delegates can put their learning into practice at the exhibition, where they will attend three pre-scheduled appointments with EIBTM exhibitors of their choice. Delegates will have a chance to use their newly developed RFPs and exhibitors will have the opportunity to meeting some highly qualified association buyers.
New Exhibition Area
EIBTM's brand new 'Technology for Meetings' area will be brimming with the latest developments in events technology, and the most innovative ideas for using them. A host of technological tools for meetings will be on show, including the latest on video and internet conferencing, for those times when physical location is not important, and a range of new ideas for business travel and physical meetings that can never be replaced. Videoconferencing facilities are also available for use by EIBTM visitors wanting to keep in touch with colleagues or family back home.
EIBTM Seminar Program
EIBTM's free seminars bring together industry professionals to discuss the latest in MICE issues. Running from 8.30 to 9.30 am each day, the seminars are:
Tuesday 21 May
Return on Investment Fundamentals
How to Maximise the Value and Measure the Return of Your Incentive Programs
Wednesday 22 May
The Meetings Business - An Industry
Re-vitalised?
Speakers: Tom Hulton, CEO of ICCA and Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau and President of EFCT
Thursday 23 May
The APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) Initiative
Speaker: Mary Power
The EIBTM Stage
In 2002 the EIBTM stage will come alive with information, debate and entertainment. On Tuesday 21 May, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau and President of EFCT, Christian Mutschlechner, will chair 'The Poor Relation', a debate designed to foster practical ideas for raising the profile of the MICE
industry in the eyes of commerce, consumers and government.
Also on Tuesday, be sure to get the lastest data on the industry when the EIBTM European Meetings and Incentive Report will be presented by Reed Travel Exhibitions in association with
Mintel.
On Wednesday 22 May, issues facing the industry following the September 11 terrorist attacks are the subject of 'Back in Business,' a debate featuring a panel of representatives discussing key concerns such as safety. There will also be a WorldWide Watch presentation to the company, independently identified as developing the most significant technological breakthrough in the industry.
Wednesday's session will also include the EIBTM Awards, and a presentation and panel discussion with members of the industry coalition.
Thursday's stage session offers some lighter fare - Mouth Watering Events - where leading hotel chefs will be cooking onstage, with a challenge. The chefs will be given a brief to prepare sumptuous meals for a particular incentive or meeting event - their test is to create a tailor-made, mouth-watering menu that fits the bill.
Hosted Buyer Program Developments
New technology will streamline the registration process for EIBTM 2002. The travel itinerary will be on-line within days of acceptance into the program and buyers will be able to easily view their travel and accommodation arrangements. The on-line diary to book appointments has been further developed to make it clearer and easier for visitors and exhibitors to use, and will be available one month in advance of the exhibition.
Further changes include smaller and more targeted groups of buyers attending group appointments with destinations - and groups can attend appointments or follow an individual appointment schedule.
Improved Flight Processes
To enhance the co-ordination of travel arrangements to the exhibition, Reed Travel Exhibitions has set up a new division - Reed Travel Services - which will manage all flights and accommodation for Hosted Buyers.
The introduction of Reed Travel Services will enable Buyers and Group Co-ordinators to check their travel itinerary on-line within days of their acceptance onto the Hosted Program. Buyers will be emailed a unique reference number and PIN which will allow them to access their personal page on the EIBTM website. The page will show their flight details, times, airport and locator number and will allow various options to extend the stay, change flights and book additional nights' accommodation. This will give the Buyer much more control over their flight details and make any flight changes a much simpler process. This initiative will ensure that Reed Travel Services will communicate directly with the buyers and the Group Co-ordinators, keeping them fully up-to-date with the latest itineraries.
