MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES
SENIOR MARKETING APPOINTMENTS
Marriott International's Hong Kong regional management today announced two staff appointments. Dominic Sherry is appointed to the position of Area Director of Marketing Asia, and Paul Toner will take up the position of Area Director of Marketing, Pacific Islands. Both appointments will take effect on April 6, 2002.
In his new role, Dominic Sherry will be responsible to develop Marriott's marketing and sales strategies for the Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia markets.
"Dominic has worked with Marriott in Europe, and then transferred to Sydney during a period of rapid expansion in the Asia Pacific Australia region. He brings valuable depth of knowledge and experience to this important role, previously serving in positions of Director of Marketing and Vice President Global Sales", said Ed Hubennette, Area Vice President.
Paul Toner, as Area Director of Marketing for the Pacific Islands, will oversee the group's properties in Hawaii and Guam, and focus on market positioning and sales in and to these areas.
Kent Maury, Regional Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific, commented that Paul's experience would benefit the whole of Marriott's Asia-Pacific operations. "It's the right time to continue and focus efforts to grow our business in the Hawaiian and Pacific islands. Paul's market knowledge and expertise and the fact that he has previously held high-level positions in Hawaii, mean he is well-equipped to provide insight into marketing, potential expansion and cross-sell opportunities," he said.
Dominic Sherry joined Marriott International in 1992 as Director of Sales for Western Europe where he headed up a London-based sales team. He then relocated to Sydney in 1998 to take up the position of Director of Marketing for the Sydney Marriott Hotel. Dominic was promoted to the position of Vice President - Global Sales Australasia in December 1999. In this role, he
was responsible for global sales, Marriott Rewards, worldwide reservations, certificate marketing, general sales agents and PR from within the Australasian region.
Paul Toner, a veteran of Marriott and having 18 years service within the group, has worked in sales and marketing roles in Boston, Hawaii and Orlando since 1985. More recently, since 1994, he has lived and worked in Hawaii as Director of Marketing at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club, and then Area Director of Marketing for Hawaii, overseeing the Kauai Marriott Resort, Maui Marriott and Renaissance Wailea sales and marketing operations. Since June 1999 as Director of Marketing for Central/Southern Asia, Paul has been responsible for hotels' sales and marketing programs, sales leader training and new openings. He has played a mentoring role for the sales and market teams and liaised between Marriott International Inc. and the individual property owners.
