Thailands rich range of ecotourism and adventure tourism products will be on full display at the first dedicated travel trade show of its kind ever to be held in Thailand at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) between 30 May - 2 June 2002.
Being organised to mark the International Year of Ecotourism declared this year by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) and United Nations Environment Progamme, the event is being jointly organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and NCC Management and Development
Co.,Ltd.
In line with the policies and strategic objectives of the UN, the Thailand Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Expo is designed to stimulate awareness and create understanding of sustainable ecotourism and adventure tourism among Thai people and international visitors.
TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for Marketing Mrs. Juthamas Siriwan commented, Ecotourism and adventure tourism are very important niche products for our industry because they focus on promoting tourism with care and sensitivity for our fragile environment and ecosystems.
They attract a different kind of specialised clientele, including many supporters of nature, wildlife and heritage conservation causes. As such, we hope that by developing a better understanding of our forests and marine resources, they will help us protect and preserve it.
Exhibitors at the event will feature ecotourism and adventure tourism products like camping, trekking, diving accessories and apparel, boat and water sports gear, beachwear, hotels, resorts, eco-lodges and homestay destinations, ecotourism and adventure tour packages, fitness, health and spa centres, nutrition products and travel gear.
Over 50,000 visitors are expected, including trade representatives of tour operators, hotels and resorts, tourism- related public and private agencies, Thai travellers especially university and high school students, international visitors and foreign expatriates residing in Thailand.
The event will include a trade session for buyers and sellers to do business as well as pre- and post-tours for participants. Organisers will distribute a wide range of promotion collaterals including an Ecotourism Travel Manual.
The Expo will open for trade participants only on 30 May and for the general public between 31 May-2 June.
