THAI Announces
Board Meeting Results
Today, Thai Airways
International Public Company Limited held a Board of Directors’
Meeting, chaired by THAI’s Chairman Mr. Virabongsa Ramangkura, with
the following results:
1. Selection
of THAI’s President
The Board of Directors has
acknowledged the appointment of a President Selection Committee, based
on the Board’s decision to select a new President who will oversee
THAI’s operations. This action is in accordance with the Standard
Quality of Directors and State Enterprise Employees Act 2000 (Issue
No. 4), Clause 8, and at a meeting held on 8 January 2002, the
following committee members were selected:
1. Mr. Srisook Chandrangsu -

2. Mr. Thapabutr Jamasevi -

& Welfare

Applications for the position
of President of Thai Airways International will be accepted from 25
January – 8 February 2002. The names of candidates who pass the
initial selection process will be announced on 13 February 2002, and
these candidates will be interviewed between 15 – 20 February 2002.
After that period, the President Selection Committee will present
results of their findings for selection of THAI’s next President.
THAI’s Board also agreed to
appoint a subcommittee to review the benefit package for the airline’s
President, subcommittee members being as follows:

2. Appointment
of Committee on Improving Inflight Facilities
The Board has agreed to
appoint a committee seeking to improve the quality of the airline’s
inflight seats, inflight entertainment system, and products
facilitating passenger inflight comfort and convenience. Members of
the committee are as follows:

Budget & Management Committee on Investment Budget, at the New
Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi)
The Board approved the airline’s
investment budget, at the New Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi),
in the amount of THB 13,735.51 million baht.
The airline’s investment at
the New Bangkok International Airport consists of six activities, as
follows: Cargo and Mail Commercial Activity, Catering Activity, Ground
Support Equipment Services Activity, Technical Services Activity,
Customer Services Activity, and Operations Center Activity.
In addition, the Board also
approved the appointment of a management committee concerning this
project, as follows:
1. Executive Vice President,
Corporate Development and Support Department - Chairman
2. Executive Vice President,
Operations - Committee member
3. Executive Vice President,
Finance and Accounting - Committee member
4. Acting Senior Vice
President, Corporate Planning and Government Relations - Committee
member
5. Managing Director,
Technical Services - Committee member
6. Managing Director, Cargo
and Mail Commercial - Committee member
7. Managing Director, Customer
Services - Committee member
8. Managing Director, Ground

THAI’s Board agreed to the
appointment of a representative from the Office of the National
Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) to observe the implementation of
investment concerning these activities.
In addition, the Board
approved for the company to seek a consultant, architect, and
construction company to proceed with the airline’s facilities that
will be established at the new airport.
4. Appointment
of Board Representative to Aid in Consideration of Appropriate
Corporate Measures and Standards
THAI’s Board appointed Mr.
Vichit Suraphongchai and Mr. Borwornsak Uwanno as representatives on
behalf of the Board, to work with the Ministry of Finance, in
considering appropriate corporate measures and standards that will be
applied in evaluating the company’s performance.
5. Interim
Measures Concerning Air Tickets
The Board agreed to interim
measures concerning the donation and granting of air tickets as well
as authorization of excess luggage weight allowance, as proposed by
the Subcommittee on Policies Regarding Donations, Activity Relations,
Granting of Complimentary and Discounted Air Tickets, and Excess
Luggage Allowance, until a policy is issued on this matter. The
subcommittee is chaired by Mr. Borwornsak Uwanno.
