SINGAPORE AIRLINES MAKES FURTHER ADJUSTMENTS TO NORTHERN SUMMER OPERATING PLAN

SIA's Senior Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Michael Tan, commented: "In the past few months we have seen a steady recovery in passenger traffic across many routes, particularly in the leisure segment. Business travel is also recovering in tandem with the economic recovery, albeit at a more measured pace".

NORTH AMERICA

The thrice weekly Singapore-Amsterdam-Chicago service which was suspended in January this year will be restored from 1 May 2002.

The Singapore-Seoul-San Francisco service which was reduced from a daily to five times a week, will revert to a daily operation from 31 March 2002. The Singapore-Tokyo-Los Angeles service which was also reduced from a daily to five a week, will revert to a daily operation from 31 March 2002.

The daily Singapore-Frankfurt-New York (JFK) service which was reduced to four times weekly in October last year, will revert to its original level of operation from 1 May 2002. 

The four times weekly Singapore-Amsterdam-New York (EWR) service which was reduced to three times weekly last October will also revert to its original level of operation from 19 March 2002.

From 31 March 2002, there will be a total of 39 weekly flights to North America and 42 weekly flights from 1 May 2002. With the inauguration of the three times weekly service to Las Vegas from 2 August 2002, SIA will have a total of 45 weekly services to North America.

ASIA

From 31 March 2002, subject to Government approval, SIA will add four B777 services a week to Shanghai, rather than the two mentioned in an announcement last month. This will result in a total of 14 B777 services a week to China's prime commercial city. 

From 31 March 2002, two additional flights to Surabaya will be mounted, bringing the total flights to nine weekly. 

The three times weekly Hanoi services will be upgraded from A340 to the larger B777 aircraft from 31 March 2002.

Nagoya, which is currently served six times weekly, following the reduction of one flight in January this year, will have the suspended flight reinstated from 1 May 2002, returning it to a daily service.

EUROPE

The service between Singapore and Frankfurt will be increased by one flight to 13 times a week from 29 March. From 1 May 2002, another flight will be reinstated, bringing the service between Singapore and Frankfurt to a total of 14 weekly, or twice daily.

SOUTHWEST PACIFIC 

From 2 June 2002, SIA will also add 2 additional weekly B777 services from Singapore to Brisbane. This will bring the total weekly flights between Singapore and Brisbane to 12.
