The rough and tumble world of adventure travel will assert itself as the Feature Product during the 25th PATA Travel Mart in Singapore, April 9-12.
At 1150 on April 10, 11 and 12, Mr. John Cvetko of tourism23 will give a talk about adventure travel. His subjects include, "Insurance and Adventure Tourism," "Maintaining Standards and Credibility in the Adventure Industry," and "Linking Culture to Adventure - Is One Possible Without the Other?"
Each talk will take place at the Adventure Travel Feature Area, booth C20, managed by Action Asia magazine.
"Adventure travel has for some years been the most dynamic and fast-growing sector of international tourism," said Action Asia magazine Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Robert Houston. "Some estimates say that adventure-related activities now account for as much as 20 percent of the revenue turnover of the tourism industry."
Mr. Houston said the industry trend was for adventure travel to continue moving into mainstream planning, purchasing and marketing.
"Adventure travel remains an aspect of the industry that is dominated by small operators with limited budgets," he said. "Being Feature Product at PATA Travel Mart will encourage operators to lift their standards and offer a greater variety of new and interesting packages."
Action Asia, in conjunction with National Geographic Channel and the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu Hotel, is arranging an indoor climbing wall to be constructed at the Mart. Daily climbing demonstrations aim to convey the excitement and potential of the sector. Mart delegates can rope up and scale the wall, too. |
