HOTEL INDUSTRY LEADERS
TO SPEAK AT BERLIN INVESTMENT CONFERENCE
Hosts of the 5th
Annual International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) have announced
program details and released the line-up of speakers for the event,
scheduled for March 19-21, 2002 at the Intercontinental Hotel in
Berlin Germany. Previously
it was announced that Guy Hands, head
and founder of the Principal Finance Group, Nomura's private equity
arm, would be serving as Chairman of the IHIF, the largest
gathering of hotel industry executives in Europe.
Commenting on the roster of
speakers scheduled to participate, host and organizer Scott Pierce of Hotel
& Motel Management remarked, “We have an incredible group of
hotel industry leaders taking part in this year’s event who will be
presenting their expert views on the state of our industry.” Participants will include Paul Slattery of Dresdner Kleinwort
Wasserstein, who will moderate a chief financial officers panel
comprised of Richard North of Six Continents, Brian Wallace of Hilton,
Gavin Simonds of Millenium & Copthorne Hotels, Werner Pauen of
Dorint Hotels & Resorts and Benjamin Cohen of Accor.
In the Town Hall sessions,
Edwin D. Fuller of Marriott International, Marcello Pigozzo of Elegant
Hotels Group and Gabriele Burgio of NH Hoteles will be presenting
their views on coping with the aftermath of
September 11. Stated
Pierce, “Since the tragedy of September 11, the hospitality and
tourism business has had to react and adapt to fundamental changes in
how we do business. These
experts will help us find ways to make positive steps forward out of a
very negative situation.” This
timely presentation will be followed by a session titled “Does
Institutional Investment in the Hotel Industry Have Legs?” featuring
Ian Livingstone of London & Regional Properties and Jeremy Robson
of The Royal Bank of Scotland.
Reprising her role as
moderator of the successful Leaders’ Panel, Becky Anderson from CNN
will engage panelists Dr. Curtis Nelson of Carlson, Tim Clarke of Six
Continents Hotels and Jurgen Bartels of Le Méridien in a discussion
of the key issues addressed at the Leaders’ Summit which will be
held the day prior to the start of the IHIF.
