EIBTM 2002
SPOTLIGHTS PRACTICAL SKILLS
EIBTM 2002 is putting the
spotlight firmly on practical education.
A unique education programme
for Hosted Buyers, organised in conjunction with the European Society
of Association Executives (ESAE), will focus on improving crucial
day-to-day skills that can save buyers time
and money, delivers customer expectations and will help to get the
edge over their competitors.
The programme takes place
between 09.30-12 noon on Tuesday and Wednesday 21 and 22 May during
the first two days of EIBTM.
The world's leading
incentive, business travel and meetings event is to be held at Palexpo,
Geneva between 21-23 May.
"Organisers of
meetings and conferences face many different challenges and
difficulties in the course of their work that can mean additional
activity as well as unnecessary frustration", said Terrance
Barkan, Member of the Board of Director of the ESAE.
"Buyers are constantly
expected to push out the boundaries to meet customer demands and to
ensure that they receive the very best service.
"Given the
complexities of the business and the continuing expansion of red tape,
rules and regulations, this can often be difficult, irritating and
labour intensive. Excellent communication is vital to a smooth, well
ordered working life for buyers. This programme will bring
participants better job satisfaction
in a difficult marketplace."
Debbie Jackson, Exhibition
Director of EIBTM said that the hands-on programme would be invaluable
to all buyers who want to get to grips with the developments and
changes within the industry worldwide.
"This is about seeing
immediate and effective results in every day work. It's instant,
relevant and down to earth", said Ms. Jackson. "The
objective is to offer practical, relevant and really useful
information that can be applied directly to a buyer's own organisation.
This programme is designed to demonstrate how buyers can obtain a
better financial result for events as well as how to work more
efficiently with meeting suppliers."
The seminars are:
* RFP'S
- REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL
How to create a well-written
proposal that cuts down on time and encourages improved proposals from
suppliers. Buyers will be able to use the RFP that they produce at
EIBTM to evaluate future venues.
* VAT
- VALUE ADDED TAX
A complex and often expensive
issue with executives left to struggle with the different rules and
reporting requirements between venues in different countries. Buyers
will learn how to minimise their exposure to VAT for future meetings.
A minimum of three
pre-scheduled appointments with exhibitors will be made for Hosted
Buyers participating in the education programme during the afternoon.
