Continental Airlines names Mark A. Erwin President and CEO of Continental Micronesia

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) announced today that Mark A. Erwin has been named president and chief executive officer of Continental Micronesia, Inc. and its parent company, Air Micronesia, Inc., effective immediately. Erwin had been Continental's senior vice president - airport services.

"Mark Erwin has demonstrated great leadership at Continental and will be an enormous asset as CEO of Continental Micronesia as I relinquish my role as CEO of that company," said Continental Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gordon Bethune.

In his new position, Erwin is responsible for all aspects of cargo and airline operations for Continental Micronesia. Erwin also assumes the additional responsibilities of sales and marketing for Continental Micronesia and for Continental's trans-Pacific services.

Erwin, who will report to Continental President Larry Kellner, replaces Bill Meehan, who will return to the mainland U.S. after five years at Continental Micronesia to assume the position of Continental vice president - Cleveland hub.

"Bill Meehan has done a tremendous job leading Continental Micronesia, especially in its transition to a new-generation fleet, and Mark will build on that success," Bethune said.

Guam-based Continental Micronesia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Continental Airlines, offers more than 235 departures each week between 23 cities throughout the Pacific Rim, the Micronesian Islands and Hawaii with a fleet of 11 next-generation Boeing 737 narrowbody and 767 widebody aircraft.

Continental Airlines is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,100 departures daily to 122 domestic and 90 international destinations. Operating hubs in New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, Continental serves more international cities than any other U.S. carrier, including extensive service throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
