FIRST MARRIOTT EXECUTIVE APARTMENTS TO OPEN IN TOKYO UNDER AGREEMENT WITH MORI BUILDING CO., LTD.

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has signed a franchise agreement with Mori Building Co., Ltd. for a 99-unit Marriott Executive Apartments (MEA) facility which is expected to open later this year in the Atago District of central Tokyo, adjacent to the Seishoji Temple. MEA is an upscale apartment brand designed to meet the needs of executives and families who prefer the size and ambience of an apartment for their long-term stays. Mori Building Co., Ltd. is one of the largest and most prominent real estate developers in Japan.

The Atago Forest Tower, Marriott Executive Apartments will be part of the mixed-use Atago Green Hills development complex that includes an 87,000-square-meter, 42-story office tower and a 62,500-square-meter, 42-story residential tower. The office tower was completed earlier this year and the residential tower will be finished this autumn. Both were designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates.

The reception area of the MEA will be located on the ground floor of the residential tower and the 99 apartments will be on the building’s fifth through 13th floors. The MEA’s swimming pool, fitness center and residents’ lounge will be located on 42nd floor. The remainder of the residential tower will contain 255 additional apartments (which will be leased to local residents), a restaurant, a convenience store and parking for 282 automobiles.

Marriott Executive Apartments offer a variety of floor plans, ranging from studios to two and three bedroom units. Each apartment provides upscale residential type furnishings; a fully equipped kitchen offering all major appliances including microwave, disposal, dishware and utensils; an in-unit washer-dryer; a security safe; storage; a dedicated work area and desk; double telephone and fax lines with voice mail and private lines; and a television, VCR, stereo with CD player and clock radio.

Amenities include a lobby with mailboxes, seating area and reception desk offering limited business center services; a resident’s lounge; and fitness center and parking.

Services include a customized welcome orientation, 24-hour concierge/security, a minimum of two housekeeping visits each week, grocery and laundry delivery and complimentary morning coffee and tea.

Currently, there are five Marriott Executive Apartments in the world: The Atrium, Marriott Executive Apartments, Hong Kong; Lakeside Chalet, Marriott Executive Apartments, Mumbai; Longin Center, Marriott Executive Apartments, Prague; Millennium Court, Marriott Executive Apartments, Budapest; and European Quarter, Marriott Executive Apartments, Brussels.

Future Marriott Executive Apartments are scheduled to open in Shanghai (2002); Dubai (2001); Dalian, China (2002); and Sao Paulo (2003).

Marriott International is represented in Japan and its territories by seven hotels: Marriott-branded, full-service hotels in Tokyo and Nagoya; and five Renaissance-branded hotels in Tokyo, Naruto, Gifu, Sapporo and Okinawa.
