KLM Cargo
took delivery of the last of three Boeing 747-400 Extended Range Freighters in Seattle today.
The new freighter "Oranje" will be used on
routes to and from the Far East, including Singapore, Hong Kong, and Osaka.
The new freighters have been named after famous ships of the Dutch East India
Company: the "Eendracht" and the "Leeuwin" preceded the "Oranje."
"The new freighters will enable us to better serve our customers. They increase
the efficiency and flexibility of the KLM fleet operation, thereby lowering unit
costs and increasing operational commitment to KLM's worldwide network,"
says KLM Cargo director, Michael Wisbrun.
"The investment in the renewal of the
KLM Cargo fleet illustrates the faith KLM's directors have in the capabilities and
the future of KLM Cargo." |
