The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has released
the 2005 edition of its flagship tourism manual which offers an unprecedented wealth of information on almost everything about the emirate along with an updated directory of
hotels and tourism-related companies and a bigger Dubai Map with legend.
Featuring a scene from the iconic Madinat Jumeirah on its cover, the glossy, user-friendly publication is a crucial component of
the promotional literature utilized by the department for its aggressive agenda of marketing Dubai as an ideal year-round
business and leisure destination.
The annual publication has been made more attractive to the travel and tourism industry professionals with the introduction of
more pages offering information on different facets of Dubai, including history, new projects, shopping, dining and
entertainment.
Highlighting the meaning contribution that the much-in-demand manual has made to the growth of Dubai tourism since its
launch 14 years ago, Mr. Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb, DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, said: “Destination Dubai
remains a very popular promotional and marketing tool. It matches the expectations of the travel agencies and tour operators in
attracting more visitors to destination each passing year.”
He added: “It offers tour operators all the information they need to put together for a Dubai package from every corner of the
world. The manual will further support our aggressive initiatives to increase worldwide awareness about the emirate’s
world-class attractions and unique facilities.”
Focus has been given on local cuisines, facilities of the physically challenged visitors, and the social relevance of the Holy
Month of Ramadan. An updated directory of hotel and hotel apartments and tourism-related companies and establishments with
telephone, fax and post box numbers and email addresses is another highlight of the manual. Another new addition is a bigger
Dubai Map with legend, including the new and upcoming projects and developments in the emirate.
The DTCM Manager Media and Advertising, Mr. Ahmed Al Tunaiji, said: “This publication helps showcase Dubai at its best and is
designed to help the industry professionals market Dubai for both leisure and business more effectively and extensively. The
manual is comparatively very comprehensive and serves as a step-by-step guide. Produced on glossy art paper, Destination
Dubai 2004 has a refreshingly new look with a make over in layout and
design."
The department has printed 45,000 copies of the English language manual. Destination Dubai copies are being made available to
industry professionals, VIPs and other institutions through the network of DTCM’s 14 overseas offices. Copies are also
distributed at local and international travel exhibitions and road shows.
