AirAsia's Indonesian Flights Take Off

Travel News Asia 12 April 2004

Today, AirAsia commenced flights for Kuala Lumpur - Bandung, its second service to Indonesia.

Prior to the commencement of the KL- Bandung flight, AirAsia’s first flight to Jakarta via Senai Airport, Johor Bahru, took off on April 10th, 2004.

AirAsia’s Kuala Lumpur - Bandung flight is the first direct service to be offered by any airline. Prior to AirAsia’s entry, guests who wanted to travel between KL and Bandung had to connect from Jakarta.

AirAsia has embarked on an extensive familiarization campaign in Indonesia to promote its presence and low cost model to the people. The low fare airline has partnered with PT Pos Indonesia and Bank Tabungan Negara to drive its “easy to book, easy to pay, and easy to fly campaign,” in the new market.

To celebrate its launching in Indonesia, the low fare airline is offering initial launch fares from RM 88.88 one way for Johor Bahru - Jakarta, from RM 99.99 one way for Kuala Lumpur - Bandung, and from RM 139.99 one way for Kuala Lumpur - Surabaya.

AirAsia’s extensive network in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and now Indonesia will allow greater connectivity between the countries. Senai Airport in Johor Bahru was selected to cater for guest traveling on the Jakarta – Johor Bahru flight, due to its close proximity to neighboring Singapore, and for its services connecting to various destinations in Malaysia and even to Bangkok, Thailand.

AirAsia’s third Indonesian service (KL-Surabaya) will commence on April 15th, 2004.
